Production Machine Retrofit

We retrofit production machines that are mechanically sound but technologically outdated. We replace unsupported PLCs and HMIs, legacy drives, control panels and wiring, and upgrade safety circuits to current standards. We design a new ergonomic HMI, add traceability and SCADA/MES integration, and preserve or improve the machine's functionality. A retrofit extends the useful life of existing equipment at significantly lower cost and downtime than a full replacement — while bringing the line up to a modern technical baseline.

The problem we solve

Machines running on unsupported PLCs, scarce spare parts, outdated safety, inability to integrate with modern traceability systems or poor diagnostics. Full replacement is often not justified — but the status quo creates continuous availability risk.

Typical applications

  • PLC upgrade from legacy to modern platforms (e.g. S5/S7)
  • HMI replacement and screen redesign
  • New control panels and wiring
  • Safety upgrade per EN ISO 13849
  • Traceability and SCADA integration

ENOTECH's scope

  • Technical assessment of the existing machine
  • New control system and safety design
  • Panel build and wiring
  • Logic porting/redesign to new PLC
  • Testing, training and documentation
  • Technical support under SLA

FAQ

How much downtime does a retrofit require?+

We pre-fabricate and pre-wire off-machine so on-site downtime is minimal — typically a few days to two weeks.

Is original functionality preserved?+

Yes — while also improving ergonomics, diagnostics and safety.

Is CE conformity covered?+

When the retrofit is substantial we update the technical file and declaration of conformity.

Can we add traceability?+

Yes — barcode/RFID integration, electronic batch records and MES/ERP connectivity.

Do you provide training?+

We train operators and maintenance technicians on the new system.
